OUR PEARLS
Each year, a lot of Akoya Pearls are left on the shelf due to imperfection in shape, color or surface blemishing etc. Those pearls with natural blue color are also hardly acknowledged as fine jewelry because they don't quite fit in the industry's standard which is "Akoya Pearls are white and round".
Akoya Pearls with "Hanadama" or AAA grading must be perfectly round and white with high luster. In order to achieve that qualification, most of the pearls are either bleached or reshaped.
However, when we first saw their natural color before getting processed, we were drawn to their incredibly unique color. Also, their shapes developed naturally in the ocean over a long period of time is something we admire for. So we decided to source all of our pearls with their natural color and shapes directly from a pearl farm in Tsushima Nagasaki, Japan.
Each pearl tells a different story of what their Mother of Pearl looked like and what they have been through in the ocean to shape their unique characteristics. We celebrate each pearl's individuality and try to bring their uniqueness to light.
We also focus on building a relationship with pearl farms and professionals who are involved in the cultivating process before purchasing pearls for our customers because we value transparency and we believe that transparency is honesty.
